Computer Aid International Donation (December 2006)

Cleaning out the cupboards for the New Year? We have donated our unused computer equipment to Computer Aid International. If you have any equipment – PCs, monitors, printers, etc - that you don’t use anymore, please consider sending it to Computer Aid to benefit education and health causes in developing countries. They are a not-for-profit, registered UK charity.

Online Customer Survey (September 2006)

We have a new online survey for existing owners of our software to tell us where we’re doing well with our software and service, and where we’re going wrong.

Movies for LinkUP Pricing (September 2006)

We have launched a new set of movies for LinkUP Pricing. They are Flash-based visuals which cover most of the LinkUP Pricing functions, called Viewlets. We will eventually have movies that cover all our Tutorials for LinkUP Enterprise. Viewlets will also be used more in our Technical FAQ section. Let us know what you think of them, particularly if you have any problems viewing them.

We’re Exhibiting at ECMOD in Autumn – 25 and 26 October 2006 (July 2006)

We have booked a stand at ECMOD (European Catalogue and Mail Order Days Exhibition) at Earls Court in October. If you are planning to attend, let us know and we can put you on our free ticket list.

Even if you’re not in the catalogue and mail order industry, and you are in London one of those days (maybe for MacExpo), come and see a demo of our software.

LinkUP Pricing Launched Online (June 2006)

We have launched LinkUP Pricing, our new entry-level LinkUP. This Quark XTension allows you to make pricing and text changes in an entire document at the press of a button. It enables you to make changes right up to your deadline. See our LinkUP Comparison Chart for details of its major functions.

This XTension is compatible with Quark 6.1 upwards and will qualify for a free upgrade to a QuarkXPress 7 version of LinkUP Pricing when this is launched later this year.

Ipex 2006 (February 2006)

MC Research is going to be exhibiting at Ipex 2006. We will be demonstrating our LinkUP family of software: LinkUP Pricing, LinkUP Workgroup, LinkUP Enterprise and LinkUP DDS. LinkUP DDS is a brand new product and LinkUP Pricing is an update of an old favourite.

We will be in Hall 20 of the Pre-Media and Pre-Press section on Stand 20-D20 along with Quark – come and visit us! If you are attending, please let us know and we can set up a demonstration time or just put some time aside for a chat.

Filemaker Pro 8 Compatibility (January 2006)

We are pleased to announce that we now have Filemaker Pro 8 compatibility with QuarkXPress 6 using LinkUP. For full instructions on setting up a Filemaker ODBC connection, see our Technical FAQ section.

(Please note that Filemaker 7 is not ODBC compliant and so is not available to use with LinkUP. However, in these instances you may wish to use our DBF version by exporting from Filemaker. Details of the DBF version can also be found in the Technical FAQ section.)

We have added a Search Function to our Technical FAQ pages. Due to the increased number of FAQs available, we have implemented an internal search bar to query our technical information database.

New Version of LinkUP for Macs (October 2005)

We have added a new Mac demo XTension bundle to the Downloads page. This is the new DBF version of LinkUP available for Enterprise or Workgroup editions. The DBF version of LinkUP connects to a local file on the Mac (with the file extension of .dbf, hence the name), allowing you to test the XTension without setting up an ODBC driver and connection.
Full copies of LinkUP Enteprise 8 and LinkUP Workgroup 8 licences come with both ODBC and DBF versions to enable you to choose how you want to connect to your data in a production environment.

New Technical FAQ Document re Where Statements (September 2005)

We have added a new Technical FAQ document in the Tips and Hints section. This talks you through applying "where" statements in order to build your document in sections using the LinkUP Enterprise XTension.

New Technical FAQ - Creating Relational Template Builds (July 2005)

We have added a new Technical FAQ document in the Tips and Hints section. This talks you through how to create a simple three level template build. This is useful when your data is stored as a hierarchy in your database as this can be automatically reflected in the Quark document (eg, catalogues with sections, sub-sections and products, travel brochures with countries, towns, hotels etc).

FireFox (June 2005)

Our site has been modified and as a result is now fully compatible with the FireFox browser.

New Technical FAQ Document re Filtering the Data Viewer (April 2005)

We have updated our Technical FAQ document, Filtering the Data Viewer Record Set. This shows you how to limit the amount of records you can see via the Data Viewer when using the LinkUP XTension to connect to your database via QuarkXPress.

New LinkUP Enterprise ‘Master Page Build’ Tutorial Added (March 2005)

We have added a tutorial explaining Master Page Builds to our demo bundle. This tutorial explains how, using different templates in your QuarkXPress master page area, you can build entire documents with complex multiple layouts. This is Tutorial 6 and can be run with the relevant XTension for Quark 4/5 and 6.

New LinkUP Enterprise 8 Manual (February 2005)

An updated LinkUP Enterprise 8 Manual (for QuarkXPress 6) is available now for download in .pdf form from our Downloads section.

QuarkXPress 6.5 (December 2004)

MC Research confirms that LinkUP Enterprise 8 and LinkUP Workgroup 8 are compatible with the new QuarkXPress update to version 6.5 for Mac. LinkUP Enterprise 8 for PC only is not currently available due to an issue within Quark; it does, however work in 6.1 on PC and workgroup versions

Firefox (November 2004)

For our existing customers, we intend to add to our Technical FAQs and perhaps add a user forum – let us know if you want anything added.
